ASTAXANTHIN
ASTAXANTHIN is a carotenoid group pigment of reddish color. It is an antioxidant which acts on atherosclerotic plaques by decreasing apoptosis there as well as by reducing macrophage infiltration. Astaxanthin, when used in the dietary supplement acts to suppress growth of tumor cells and stimulate the immune system against tumor antigen. It has significant activity as cardioprotective agent which helps in the peri-procedural infarction. Moreover, it also decreases ocular inflammation disorders like age-related macular degeneration.
