AZITHROMYCIN
Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic which is used in the treatment of pharyngitis, cholera, Legionnaires’ disease, donovanosis, uncomplicated gonorrhea, syphilis, typhoid fever, Lyme disease, tonsillitis. It is also effective against pertussis, acute pelvic inflammatory disease, nongonococcal urethritis, respiratory tract infections, chlamydial pneumonia, urethritis, genital ulcers, cervicitis, bacterial sinusitis and travelers’ diarrhea. It is used in multiple drug regimens against Helicobacter pylori to treat peptic ulcers and is also used in conjunction with other ant malarial drugs to treat malaria.
