CHLORAMPHENICOL PALMITATE

CHLORAMPHENICOL PALMITATE is an antibiotic which is produced by Streptomyces venezuelae. It is used in the treatment of external ear infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aruginosa, Proteus species, Escherichia coli, Enterobacter aerogenes and Klebsiella pneumonia. It is used as topical treatment for ocular infections like blepharoconjunctivitis, bacterial keratitis, bacterial blepharitis and bacterial conjunctivitis. It is also indicated in the treatment of meningitis, paratyphoid and typhoid fever, brain abscess by Bacteroides fragilis.Moreover, it is also used in veterinary medicine as an antibacterial.
