GLYCYRRHIZIC ACID is obtained from Glycyrrhiza glabra that acts as a demulcent, expectorant and mild laxative. It is used to mask the taste and has application in improving liver function. It exhibits antitumorigenic property and could be a promising agent from protecting certain forms of human cancer. It is also used to treat chronic hepatitis C and prevents liver carcinogenesis. It acts as an antagonist arecoline genotoxicity and betel quid containing fluoride.
