NITRENDIPINE
NITRENDIPINE is a calcium channel blocker that is used against mild to moderate hypertension. It is also used in conjunction with angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor to treat acute stable angina pectoris, hypertension and Prinzmetal’s variant angina. It acts by inhibiting extracellular calcium influx across cell membranes of myocardial as well as vascular smooth muscle. Decreased amount of calcium causes inhibition of contractile processes, dilation of coronary of systemic as well as coronary arteries and increased delivery of oxygen to myocardial tissue.
