ROXITHROMYCIN
ROXITHROMYCIN is a semi-synthetic antibiotic categorized as macrolide. It is used in the treatment of infections in the respiratory tract, urinary tract and soft tissue. It exhibits antibacterial activity against Streptococcus agalactiae, Neisseria meningitides, Mycoplasma pneumonia, Streptococcus pneumonia, Chlamydia trachomatis, Helicobacter (Campylobacter), Legionella pneumophila, Bordetella pertussis, Ureaplasma urealyticum and Haemophilus ducreyi. It enhances the chemotactic and adhesive functions of macrophages and polymorphonuclear leukocytes which produce bacterial lysis and phagocytosis.
