SODIUM ACID CITRATE acts as an expectorant as well as systemic alkalizer. It is of great use when tenacious, thick sputum is required to liquefy. It is effective in excessive urinary acidity. It is a diuretic that increases calcium excretion which has led its use in hypercalcemia and lead poisoning. It is also used in veterinary medicine as an anticoagulant.
