SULPHADIMETHOXINE
SULPHADIMETHOXINE is an antibiotic of the sulfonamide group. It is a synthetic antibiotic that works as bacteriostatic and provides a wide range of spectrum against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It inhibits bacteria by competitively inhibiting para amino benzoic acid which in turn stops folic acid synthesis. It is used in the treatment of infections caused by streptococci, shigella, klebsiella, proteus, staphylococci, salmonella and escherichia. It is also used in veterinary medicine to treat coccicidal infections in dogs, cats and several other animals.
